Planning villa meals with a chef on an Uluwatu stay
How to plan villa meals with a chef in Uluwatu: cliff-top terrace checks, timing around sunset and the beach, the travel fee and what to send for a quote.

A villa chef on an Uluwatu stay works best when you plan three things early: the kitchen-to-terrace route, the timing around sunset and the beach, and which meals you want each day. Our private chef service in Uluwatu sends a chef and assistant to your villa, plans the menu, shops, cooks, serves and cleans up.
This guide covers what to check on a cliff-top property, how to time meals, what the day costs, the travel fee and what to send us so the quote is right first time.
- A full day is a chef plus assistant with three flexible meals, from IDR 2,700,000++.
- Groceries are billed at cost with receipts, never marked up.
- Travel to Uluwatu is a flat IDR 200,000 to 400,000 per booking.
- Send photos of the kitchen, the dining spot and the route between them.
- Decide whether sunset drinks, the seated dinner or both come first.
What does a villa chef do on an Uluwatu stay?
A full day of staff is one professional chef plus a dedicated assistant for about 10 guests. You get three meals and place each one as breakfast, lunch or dinner. The team plans the menu, shops, cooks, plates, serves at your table and leaves the kitchen and dining area clean after every meal.
On a longer stay it means eating well at the villa without booking a car or a table each night. Your three meals can also be split across different days, so two now and one later works too.
What should you check before dinner on a cliff-top terrace?
Check wind shelter, how stable the table is and where a covered fallback sits. Then share the route from the kitchen to the table, including stairs or separate buildings. A view photo does not show whether food and equipment can be carried there safely, so access photos matter as much as the dining photo.
- A photo of the dining spot at the time you plan to eat.
- A photo of the kitchen, stove, fridge and work space.
- The route between them, with any steps or levels.
- A covered space with seating if the weather turns.
How should you time meals around sunset and the beach?
Choose whether sunset drinks, the seated dinner or both come first. A long tasting menu that starts too late leaves little time for conversation. If your group is coming back from Bingin or Padang Padang, agree a realistic arrival window and a menu that does not need everyone at the table at the same minute.
| What to decide | Why it matters | A simple way to plan it |
|---|---|---|
| Sunset or dinner first | Drinks and a long dinner compete for the same hour | Drinks at sunset, seated dinner after |
| Beach return time | A plated menu needs everyone seated together | Shared dishes if arrivals are spread out |
| Breakfast or lunch | Your three meals are flexible | A late breakfast on surf days |
| Children's meal time | Children can eat at an earlier sitting | An earlier kids sitting in the same service |

What does a full day with a chef cost?
A full day of staff starts at IDR 2,700,000++ for the chef and assistant. The ++ means 11% government tax and 10% service charge are added on top. Groceries are billed separately at cost with receipts. Book 7 days or more and the day rate drops 10%, and from 28 days it drops 20%.
A 50% deposit confirms your dates, and the balance is due the day before. Lobster, imported wagyu, oysters and other premium ingredients are priced and approved with you before anything is bought. See full-day villa chef rates and inclusions for the complete breakdown.
What can the chef cook in Uluwatu?
Menus follow what your group likes to eat. Ideas for Uluwatu include a Balinese rice-table dinner with nasi campur, lawar and sate lilit, a shared seafood dinner, Mediterranean or Italian menus, modern Asian dishes and plant-based meals. Most of our menus can be prepared halal by our halal-certified chefs, and allergies are reviewed before the menu is approved.
Tell us about allergies, religious diets and preferences before the menu is set. For a serious allergy the kitchen and ingredients are reviewed first, because an allergen-free kitchen cannot be assumed in a shared villa.
What if you only want one dinner or a party?
One lunch, dinner or party is a catering booking, with food included in the price, rather than a full day of staff. For a celebration on the terrace, share the guest count, drinks plans and service times. Extra service staff and a mobile cocktail bar are scoped separately and are never added to the chef fee automatically.
Compare formats such as BBQ, buffet and plated dinners on our catering formats for a single event.

What should you send us?
