Switching cuisines on a weekly villa chef stay in Bali

Yes, on a Bali villa stay of seven days or more you can switch specialist chefs day by day, such as Japanese on Tuesday and Balinese on Wednesday. This is Chef Rotation, included at no extra day-rate charge on weekly villa chef bookings. Each cuisine has its own head chef, and we check that specialist's availability for your dates.

This guide explains how rotation works, which cuisines rotate, how it fits with the weekly rate, and when keeping one chef is the better call.

TL;DR
  • Chef Rotation is reserved for stays of 7 days or longer.
  • Switch between specialist chefs day by day at no extra day-rate charge.
  • Cuisines include Italian and Mediterranean, Japanese and seafood, Indonesian and Balinese, BBQ, plant-based and pastry.
  • Tell us the night before and we match the next day's chef.
  • Weekly rate: IDR 2,430,000++ a day for chef and assistant; groceries at cost.

How Chef Rotation works

At myCHEF, each cuisine has a dedicated head chef who runs a brigade trained to their recipes and standards. On shorter bookings we match the best specialist to your main cuisine. On stays of 7 days or more, you can request a different specialist for any day, decided day by day rather than locked into a fixed schedule.

  1. Book a stay chef for 7 days or more.
  2. Tell us the cuisines you are curious about when you send the brief.
  3. The night before, say what you feel like eating the next day.
  4. We check that specialist's availability and match the next day's chef.
  5. The team shops, cooks, serves and cleans as on any other day.

Which cuisines can rotate

Specialist Typical dishes on the live team page Good day for
Italian and Mediterranean Hand-rolled pasta, whole grilled fish, tiramisu A long family dinner
Japanese and seafood Sashimi, robata-grilled fish, miso-glazed aubergine A light, clean day
Indonesian and Balinese Bebek betutu, lawar with coconut, nasi goreng kampung A local feast at home
BBQ and open flame Whole fish, satay, lamb ribs with sambal matah A poolside grill evening
Plant-based and wellness Raw cashew cheese plates, Ayurvedic kitchari A reset day after travel
Pastry Plated desserts, celebration cakes, petit fours A birthday in the middle of the stay

Specific dishes depend on your brief and the season. The chef proposes the actual menu, and dietary needs carry across every rotation day. See the chef team page for the specialists behind each cuisine.

Rotation and the weekly rate

Rotation does not change the price. The full-day stay chef is IDR 2,700,000++ a day for one professional chef plus a dedicated assistant, with three meals. From 7 days the rate drops 10% to IDR 2,430,000++, and from 28 days it drops 20% to IDR 2,160,000++. The ++ is 11% government tax and 10% service charge. Groceries are billed separately at cost with receipts.

Staying a week or longer?

Send your dates, guest count, villa area and the cuisines you want to try. We check specialist availability and send a written quote.

Rotation or one chef all week?

Rotation suits groups who want variety and like the idea of a different kitchen style each day. One chef across the stay suits families with set routines, picky eaters or complex dietary needs, where one person learning the group's tastes matters most. Both work on the same weekly rate.

If continuity is your priority, see same private chef for multiple nights. You can also mix the two: keep one chef for most days and bring in a specialist for a BBQ night or a Balinese feast.

Planning tips for a rotation week

  • Put the cuisines you want to try in the first brief, so we can check specialists early.
  • Keep allergies and dietary needs in one shared note so every chef works from the same list.
  • Use one rotation day for a celebration, such as a pastry-led birthday dinner.
  • For a party with many extra guests, a separate catering event is usually the better fit.

FAQ

What is Chef Rotation?

On private chef bookings of 7 days or longer, you can request a different specialist chef for any day, such as Japanese one day and Balinese the next. It is included at no extra day-rate charge.

Does rotation cost more?

No. Chef Rotation is included on stays of 7 days or more. The weekly day rate is IDR 2,430,000++ for a chef and assistant, and from 28 days it is IDR 2,160,000++. Groceries stay separate at cost.

Can I keep the same chef instead?

Yes. Rotation is optional. If your group prefers one chef across the stay, ask for continuity when you book. Specific chef requests are easiest on multi-day stays and for repeat guests.

How much notice do I need to switch cuisine?

Tell us the night before and we match the next day's chef to what you feel like eating, subject to that specialist's real availability for your dates.

Can a BBQ night be one of the rotation days?

Yes. On multi-day stays, a BBQ and open-flame day can be one of your Chef Rotation days. Bigger BBQ parties with more guests are usually better as BBQ catering.
