How to choose a buffet menu for a Bali villa event
Choose a buffet menu for a Bali villa event: the right price tier, one or two cuisine directions, live stations, diets, kids and the details to confirm early.

To choose a buffet menu for a Bali villa event, pick the tier first, then one or two cuisine directions, then add a live station only if the crowd will enjoy it. Our buffet menus for villa events come in Indonesian, International and Premium live-station tiers, and every direction can be mixed, labelled for diets and adjusted before the day.
This guide is for hosts who already know a buffet suits their group and now need to decide what goes on it. If you are still choosing a format, start with buffet or plated for a villa event.
- Choose the tier first: Indonesian, International or Premium live-station.
- Pick one or two cuisine directions, not five.
- Add a live station for theatre, not for volume.
- Build diets into the plan; every dish is labelled.
- Standard buffets start at 30 guests, with separate rates for 20 to 29.
Start with the tier
The tier sets the price per guest, and the rate follows your group size. Every figure below is per guest, before tax and service. Prices shown ++ have 11% government tax and 10% service added on top. Food, chef, service staff, buffet equipment, setup and cleanup are included.
| Guests | Indonesian | International | Premium live-station |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 to 29 | IDR 525,000++ | IDR 625,000++ | IDR 850,000++ |
| 30 to 49 | IDR 475,000++ | IDR 575,000++ | IDR 775,000++ |
| 50 to 99 | IDR 450,000++ | IDR 550,000++ | IDR 750,000++ |
| 100 or more | Custom proposal | Custom proposal | Custom proposal |
Children under 10 pay 50% of the adult per-guest price. For every rate, see myCHEF pricing.
Pick one or two cuisine directions
We plan buffets around eight directions, and each one can be customised for your group:
- Indonesian: nasi campur, sate, rendang, gado-gado, urap, sambals and traditional sweets.
- Western: roast meats, grilled fish, pasta, salads, bread rolls and European-style desserts.
- BBQ buffet: a live-grill station with ribs, prawns, chicken, corn and BBQ sauces.
- Asian fusion: Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese dishes with local Balinese flavours.
- Mediterranean: grilled seafood, hummus, tabbouleh, falafel, olives and flatbread.
- Vegetarian: plant-based mains, tofu, tempeh, vegetable curries and fresh salads.
- Children's buffet: mild flavours, familiar dishes, finger foods and fun desserts.
- Dessert buffet: cakes, pastries, fresh fruit, chocolate fountain and Balinese sweets.
One or two directions usually read better on the table than five. A common pairing is Indonesian with a Western section for guests who want something familiar, or a vegetarian direction alongside the main buffet for a mixed crowd.
Add a live station only where it helps
Pasta, carving, sushi or BBQ live stations add theatre and freshness without slowing the line. They suit welcome nights and celebrations where guests enjoy watching the cooking. The Premium live-station tier is built around them, so if you want more than one station, compare that tier against adding one to an International menu.

Plan diets into the buffet
Dietary dishes are built into the menu plan, prepared separately where required and clearly labelled on the line, with markers such as V, GF, NF and spicy. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy-aware options are all possible. Most buffet menus can be prepared halal by our halal-certified chefs, and pork-free menus are standard options. For halal groups, see halal catering in Bali and pork-free or halal for a villa event.
Children on the buffet
A children's section with mild flavours and familiar dishes keeps young guests happy without changing the adult menu. Count children under 10 separately, since they pay 50%. For family stays, our kids menus show what works.
How the menu fits your guest count
The layout scales with the group, and the menu should match it:
| Guests | Typical setup |
|---|---|
| 15 to 30 | Single buffet line, one chafing station, compact setup |
| 30 to 50 | Double-sided buffet, two chafing stations, dedicated server |
| 50 to 100 | Multiple buffet lines, four or more chafing stations |
| 100 and more | Full catering team, six or more stations, live cooking, dedicated coordinator |
The food service window is 2.5 hours, with fresh batches every 30 to 45 minutes and hot food held above 60°C. For headcount planning by format, read which catering format fits your guest count.
Tastings and final details
For events of 40 guests or more we offer a complimentary pre-event tasting, where you sample the proposed menu, meet the head chef and confirm the details. Final menus are confirmed several days before the event, and the final headcount is due 48 hours before. BBQ and buffet need 3 days of notice as standard, 2 days is fine, and we do not take bookings for the day you message.
